Producer / Arranger / Orchestration notes
Jean Claude vannier is most famous for his work with Serge Gainsbourg
R. Donnez (Raymond Donnez) also worked with Sylvie Vartan and is rumored to have been credited as Don Ray for many of his disco collaborations. Don Ray was a disco producer, arranger and performer. He played keyboards on Cerrone's records "Love in C Minor", "IV", "VI", and "VIII" and released one solo album, "Garden of Love", which featured his successful single "Got to Have Loving", cowritten with Cerrone, who drummed on the track. He also produced Santa Esmeralda's hit cover of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and their third LP, "House of the Rising Sun".

anne st clair...
who are you?

Do I know myself? Just to better see myself, at 19 I left for the roads of Europe. I had the need to balance myself morally, study others, and like the rest of the world, I dreamt of "somewhere else". Though it's rare, my parents understood and let me go, but since I didn't want to be under their guidance, I had to win(control) my own life. I bought a guitar, studied some chords and learned Joan Baez's repertoire. Afterwards? Well, I sang in the streets, was the hardest to reach. One day I was asked to sing in a cabaret, it was the first step. Afterwards, returning to France, Lee Hallyday offered me to work with him. There, I waited almost a year, I didn't feel ready and then the contracts, the obligations...I'm so reluctant to risk  losing my freedom! But I had already composed my songs and I wanted to improve. I have done my first record with les Corbeaux. It was well received by the businessmen (maybe executives?). i also did songs for Dalida among others, and she had the kindness that when I asked her for  "le Septieme jour" (The seventh day), she said, "Provided I sing it as well as you!" Of course that flattered me, but I kept my head on the ground; I have much to learn in this business. That's why, just to get familiar with all the genres I recorded "Ne sais-tu pas que c'est toi que j'aime?" (Don't you know, it's you I love)

Now, the song for me is a way to strengthen myself, to find my true personality; a step (maybe stepping stone) too. In the future, I'd like to do a musical comedy. Until then, I'm going on tour - a world tour - with Johnny Hallyday. I consider it an apprenticeship. My luck? Before, I had understanding parents, then I met writers like Boris Bergmann, who understood my temperament and wrote me songs that stuck exactly to my genre. I have a very fierce character, even savage. I rebel. For example, at the beginning, they gave me a black wig. I was ridiculed with it. I threw it out, saying "you'll take me as I am or I'll leave" But when the people act with my interests, I bend. Love? My work gives enough problems to want another. I am very sure love risks taking precedence over my career.
